Cooking can be a great way to spend time and create special memories with family and friends.
I recently took a trip to Delaware to visit my Aunt Gerri. We both love to cook so one afternoon we got out her Polish cookbook and prepared one of our favorite meals – pierogies.
We made a batch of classic potato pierogies and another using venison and both were absolutely delicious. As we prepared the dough, my aunt and I talked about how our grandmothers and mothers prepared meals and the challenges they faced when they were young mothers.
When the dough was ready, we cut the individual pieces with the top of a glass and then my aunt filled the pieces and closed the shells. We boiled the individual shells and then pan-fried the pierogies in butter until golden brown.
They were so delicious!
