It’s that time of year again!
My daughter Brooke is home from school and she will once again be helping me in the kitchen during our pop-up cooking camp for boys and girls ages 11 through 14 that begins on Monday, July 18 and continues through Friday, July 22.
During the week-long camp (which has been sold out), Brooke and I will focus on a different theme each day and teach our campers a variety of skill sets (knife skills, cooking techniques, and kitchen etiquette) that they can use in their own apartments or homes as they become adults.
We’ll also stress the importance of eating a balanced diet and living healthier, preparing fresh foods, and of course, the pleasure that comes from making some yummy indulgence.
Our budding chefs will also learn and prepare a variety of recipes that are sure to please and can be used when they have roommates, spouses, partners, and children.
Some of the food we’ll be preparing includes grilled chicken quesadillas, homestyle guacamole, Mexican chopped salad, homemade hummus, smoothie bowls, egg sandwiches, chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches, and homemade ice cream.
The camp is being held at our Deane Showroom in New Canaan (189 Elm Street) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.
